The Novillo Fair 2026 takes place from Friday, July 31st to Tuesday, August 4th in Hagetmau, in the heart of the Landaise Chalosse region. Four days and five nights of Gascon festivities, punctuated by bandas, bullfighting shows (novilladas with and without picadors, Landaise race, becerrada, capea), bodegas, the grand cavalcade, and entertainment for everyone.
The Novillo Fair 2026 in Hagetmau
From July 31st to August 4th, 2026, Hagetmau lives to the rhythm of its fair. As every year, the city of Chalosse combines bullfighting culture, Gascon traditions, and a festive atmosphere: bandas parading from morning to night, bodegas offering wines from the Southwest and local specialties, children's day, Landaise day and its agricultural show, the "Foulées de la Perle de la Chalosse" race, committee dinner, and a grand float parade.
Bullfighting Shows
The bullfighting program features novilladas in the municipal bullring:
- Saturday, August 1st — Capea (11:00 AM): exhibition by students of the Adour Aficion Bullfighting School, under the direction of Richard Milian. Free entry.
- Saturday, August 1st — Novillada without picadors (6:00 PM): six novillos from the Alma Serena ranch (awarded best livestock of the Southwest 2025), plus one animal sponsored by local peñas. Alongside novilleros Matias (Madrid-Arles), Lisares (Arles), and Julio Martin (Adour Aficion Meilhan).
- Sunday, August 2nd — Novillada with picadors (6:00 PM): three novillos from the La Golosina ranch (Santa Coloma lineage) and three from Jalabert Frères (Jandilla lineage), for novilleros Jesus Romero, Álvaro Serrano, and Mario Vilau.
The fair also offers a Landaise race bringing together the best 'écarteurs' and 'sauteurs' of the region, as well as a bolsin (international competition for bullfighting schools).

Getting to Hagetmau
By Car
Hagetmau is located 30 km south of Mont-de-Marsan and 40 km east of Dax, accessible via the D933 and the D2. Free parking is available on the outskirts of the town center, notably at the Parking du lac de la Cité and the Parking du stade. Some streets in the center are closed to traffic during the festivities, and a specific traffic plan is in place.
By Public Transport
XL'R bus lines connect Hagetmau to Mont-de-Marsan, Dax, and Orthez. Information from the departmental network at 09 70 87 04 00.
Festival Venues
The festivities are concentrated in the town center of Hagetmau, with taurine shows at the municipal bullrings. Bodegas and street entertainment are set up in the main streets and central squares, particularly around the Place de la République. The funfair is located near the bullrings with numerous rides and attractions for all ages.
Schedule
Activities begin in the late morning and continue late into the night. The cockade contest opens the festivities on Friday evening. The novilladas take place on Saturday and Sunday in the late afternoon. Children's Day is scheduled for Monday. The Landes race concludes the taurine program on Tuesday evening. Main concerts are held each evening on the open-air stages.

Access to street entertainment, concerts, and bandas is free. Taurine shows in the bullrings are paid:
- Cockade contest: €8
- Novillada without picadors: €15
- Novillada with picadors: €23 to €49 depending on seating
- Landes race: €20 (€5 for members)

Food and Drink
The bodegas and estanquets offer traditional Landes and Chalosse cuisine: foie gras, magret, confit, Chalosse beef, Tursan cheeses and wines. Fast food stands are located around the funfair. Popular meals offer a convivial moment to share around local gastronomy.
