Free family festival of music and street arts in Chaumes-en-Retz
Created in 2021 at the Parc de Loisirs de La Blanche, in Chéméré (municipality of Chaumes-en-Retz), FestiChaumes is the result of a collective dynamic bringing together the AFR de Chéméré (Animation and Rural Festivals), L'Étoile Arthonnaise, the municipality of Chaumes-en-Retz, local associations, and passionate volunteer residents. Conceived by and for the residents of the area, the festival is co-constructed each year with associations, artists, and elected officials, in an approach of citizen participation and valorization of the richness of local commitment.
The FestiChaumes program combines contemporary music concerts, street performances, artistic parades, participatory workshops, an open stage, a dance revisiting traditional dances (waltz, madison, tango), and theater plays performed by children and adults. Each edition brings together emerging and established artists, street companies, musicians, circus performers, and dancers in a warm and family-friendly atmosphere.
The festival hosts both professional groups and amateur practices, highlighting the diversity of talents from the region and beyond. The performances unfold outdoors in the park's green setting, offering an immersive and festive experience accessible to all ages.
FestiChaumes is part of a strong commitment to access to culture for everyone: admission is completely free, with no ticketing or reservation required. The festival is sustained by the sale of food and drinks on site, the support of institutional partners, and the work of volunteers who invest themselves throughout the year to keep this unifying event alive.
Since its first edition in 2021, FestiChaumes has continued to grow, evolving from a single-day event to a multi-day festival offering a dozen performances, concerts, and activities. The fifth edition in 2025 notably featured Les Wriggles, Hop Hop Hop Crew, Wassa Percussion, Runo la Camioneta, and Germaine, confirming the ambition of an eclectic program blending humor, world music, festive rock, and street arts.
6th edition of FestiChaumes on the theme "Opening to the World", from Wednesday, June 3 to Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Parc de Loisirs de La Blanche in Chaumes-en-Retz (Loire-Atlantique). Four days of concerts, theatre, circus, juggling, urban dance, and street performances, entirely free, featuring DJ Zebra, Mlle Orchestra, Radio Byzance, Calyps'Atlantic, Jeyo, and FMR Crew.
For its 6th edition, FestiChaumes will take over the Parc de Loisirs de La Blanche in Chéméré (Chaumes-en-Retz) from Wednesday, June 3 to Saturday, June 6, 2026, and, on Thursday evening, the Espace Culturel Victor Lemoine. Over four days, the festival presents a multidisciplinary program — concerts, theatre, circus, juggling, hip-hop dance, martial arts, storytelling, children's activities — under the theme of opening to the world (reggae-dub, cumbia, Caribbean steelband, revisited traditional music).
Family opening from 9:30 AM at Parc de La Blanche, with a continuous stream of shows for ages 5 and up: poetic storytelling and juggling with Cie Syllabe, object theatre on inclusion (Cie Moulin), vocal and gestural performances (Cie POC), and local and international stories presented by the Chaumes-en-Retz library.
Evening at the Espace Culturel Victor Lemoine from 7:30 PM, with two local amateur companies on the theme of "Holiday Memories" (Cie Arlequin Comédie, Cie La Clé d'Or), followed by an improvisation cabaret by Les Retzplicans.
The festival intensifies from 5:00 PM at Parc de La Blanche, with an open stage for young musicians (MJ), reggae-dub with One Seed Ft. Deewaï, then the seven-piece rock-funk-tango Mlle Orchestra, and a mashup set by DJ Zebra to close the night.
The busiest day, opening at 9:30 AM: clown, object theatre, circus, Caribbean steelband Calyps'Atlantic and its steel drum initiation, Vo Vietnam demonstration in a parade, hip-hop dance with the FMR Crew. The evening concludes with a grand concert under the big top featuring the Latin-Caribbean fusion of Jeyo and the dub-electro-traditions of Radio Byzance.
