Street Arts Festival of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle
Festirues is the street arts festival of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle in the Landes. For over twenty years, this popular and 100% free event transforms the town center into an open-air stage for two days in April. More than 40 shows of theater, dance, circus, music, magic, and puppetry are offered by about twenty companies from France and around the world. A festival for all audiences, family-friendly and convivial, which is the pride of the Morcenais territory.
Since its creation in the early 2000s, Festirues has established itself as a major cultural event in the Landes and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Every year in April, the town center of Morcenx-la-Nouvelle transforms into a huge open-air theater, welcoming thousands of spectators to enjoy two days of 100% free shows.
Festirues offers more than 40 shows spread across several squares and streets in the city center: Place Aristide Briand, Place Léo Bouyssou, the primary school courtyard, the church park, and the media library. The disciplines represented cover the entire spectrum of street arts: theater, dance, circus, acrobatics, music, magic, puppetry, visual arts, and participatory performances.
Each edition invites about twenty professional companies, mixing established artists and young talents, from all over France and sometimes from abroad. The festival makes it a point of honor to present original and accessible artistic forms, capable of surprising both seasoned amateurs and newcomers.
The DNA of Festirues is total freeness and accessibility. The shows are for all audiences, from the youngest to the oldest. Families are particularly welcome with dedicated time slots for children. The festival playfully invests public space, transforming every street corner into a potential stage and inviting passers-by to become spectators—or even actors—of the performances.
On Sunday, a large flea market complements the artistic program, adding a convivial and popular dimension to the event. Food and drink areas are available throughout the festival.
Festirues is supported by a local association with the backing of the Morcenx-la-Nouvelle municipality. The event mobilizes numerous volunteers and local partners, contributing to the cultural and economic dynamism of the Morcenais region. Over more than twenty editions, the festival has built a loyal regional audience while attracting visitors from all over Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The 24th edition of Festirues will take place from April 24 to 26, 2026, in Morcenx-la-Nouvelle. The street arts festival will offer a new 100% free program with theater, circus, dance, and music in the open air.
