A Voix Haute: the voice in all its splendor in Bagnères-de-Bigorre

From 2005 until the mid-2010s, the A Voix Haute festival made Bagnères-de-Bigorre resonate with the sound of voices and polyphonies. Under the artistic direction of Pascal Caumont, this festival celebrated song in all its forms.

Song and polyphonies in the spotlight

The festival explored the richness of the human voice:

• Traditional song from the Pyrenees and beyond
• Polyphonies from Bigorre, Corsica, Basque Country, Italy, and Catalonia
• Sacred and secular song
• Contemporary research on the voice

The polyphonies of Bigorre

The festival contributed to the revival of the polyphonies of Bigorre, a three-voice vocal art transmitted orally, less known than Corsican or Basque polyphonies but just as rich. A Voix Haute worked to safeguard and transmit this intangible Pyrenean heritage.

Exceptional concert venues

Concerts took place in various locations in Bagnères-de-Bigorre: the church, the Halle aux Grains, the Centre Maintenon, the Vallon de Salut open-air theater, and the municipal library gardens.
