Sky Festival
Free-flight festival at the Col de Couraduque in the Val d'Azun
2026
About Sky Festival
Every year, the Fête du Ciel brings together free-flight enthusiasts from the Val d'Azun and beyond at the Col de Couraduque. Paragliders, hang gliders, kites, and hot air balloons fill the skies above the valley, featuring tandem flights, kite-making workshops, and opportunities to observe the birds of prey that nest on the nearby ridges.
Established in 2018 by the town of Aucun and around sixty volunteers working with the Hautes-Pyrénées departmental free-flight committee, the festival has been committed to non-motorized flight from the start: no drones or helicopters are allowed, collective shuttles are provided to reach the pass, and catering is handled by local Val d'Azun producers. Admission is free for both days of the event.
Sky Festival — edition 2026
The 8th edition of La Fête du Ciel takes place on September 12th and 13th, 2026, at the Col de Couraduque, located between the village of Aucun and the Plaine d'Aucun. Featuring tandem flights, kite flying, a local farmers' and artisans' market, and talks on mountain wildlife, this event draws over 4,000 visitors each year to celebrate the world of free flight.
Programme Sky Festival 2026
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been released by the organizers; it will be added as soon as it becomes available. Previous editions have featured a two-day schedule including: tandem paragliding and hang gliding flights, hot air balloon launches towards Argelès-Gazost, kite-making workshops, a local farmers' and artisans' market, film screenings and lectures on mountain wildlife and hydroelectricity, and educational activities focused on birds of prey.
