2026
About Pastoralism Festival (Argelès-Gazost)
The Festival du Pastoralisme takes place at the Maison de la Montagne in Argelès-Gazost, in the heart of the Hautes-Pyrénées. It explores the deep connection between humans, animals, and nature through the lens of pastoralism—a traditional farming practice that shapes how we live in the mountains, influencing everything from biodiversity and landscapes to rural economies and the passing down of ancestral knowledge.
The event is co-organized with Amanda Meunier, a filmmaker and local farmer from Bigorre, known for her documentaries "Paisans de Nosta" and "Fleurir," which highlight the agricultural world of the Pyrenees. The program features a rich mix of workshops, discussions, meet-and-greets, tastings, rustic country meals, sheep shearing demonstrations, and film screenings.
