About Dire et Lire à l'Air
Dire et Lire à l'Air is a traveling festival launched in 2012 by the Gers Departmental Library, in partnership with local libraries across the region. Every September, the festival brings free performances to unique, offbeat locations—including parks, gardens, wine cellars, castles, chapels, and village squares—in around twenty towns throughout the Gers. The program is curated around the library's three main pillars: literature, music, and cinema.

The 2026 edition of Dire et Lire à l'Air continues the festival's journey through the libraries of the Gers department. In Riscle, the event on September 17, 2026, brings together the municipal library, the Sol'Adour and Alavetz associations, the Tiers lieu Sol'Adour, and the Ehpad Bel Adour. A festival powered by the library network
The Gers Departmental Library has been organizing Dire et Lire à l'Air since 2012, working alongside the network of municipal and intercommunal libraries in the department. The 2023 edition brought together twenty-two towns in the Gers for seven performances held between September 20th and October 1st, hosted in venues ranging from cloisters and rugby stadiums to historic bullrings and gardens.
The concept: taking books beyond the walls
Each stop pairs a local library with its host town to present a free performance centered on reading, music, or film. Dates vary by location throughout the festival, which spans roughly ten days to two weeks every September.
