Free street arts festival in Sarreguemines
The Festival de la Saint-Paul, or Festival des Arts de Rue de la Saint-Paul, is a festive and free event held annually on the last weekend of June in Sarreguemines, Moselle. Created over 30 years ago, this family-friendly festival takes over the city center with a program combining street performances, circus, music, brass bands, jugglers, stilt walkers, and internationally renowned artists. Each edition is built around a theme that permeates all the shows and parades, transforming Sarreguemines into a huge open-air theater.
For over 30 years, the Festival de la Saint-Paul has been the unmissable festive event in Sarreguemines. Every last weekend of June, this border town in Moselle transforms into a huge open-air theater where street performances, music, circus, and live arts take over the squares and streets of the city center for the delight of thousands of spectators.
Each edition of the Festival de la Saint-Paul is built around an original theme that gives its color to the entire program. In 2025, the 32nd edition plunged the city into the universe of the Microcosmos, inviting spectators to explore a world populated by luminous creatures and fantastic insects. Previous themes have explored various universes, from the Olympic Games to fantasy, including travel and nature.
The program brings together about twenty companies, brass bands, jugglers, stilt walkers, and national and international street artists. The shows, designed for all ages and sensitivities, combine humor, poetry, acrobatic feats, and spectacular visual creations.
The streets of Sarreguemines' city center become the playground for street theater companies offering itinerant performances, fixed shows, and interactive installations. Jugglers, fire-eaters, giant puppeteers, and acrobats mingle with passers-by to create a festive atmosphere.
Music is omnipresent during the festival. Quirky brass bands like Les Rock-Magnons or Les Enfants de la Batt'rient liven up the streets with rock, batucada, and tribal percussion. Open-air concerts complete the musical program, offering a festive and varied soundscape.
During the festival, Sarreguemines museums open their doors with demonstrations, creative workshops, and guided tours. City center shops also participate in the festivities by offering activities and surprises to their customers. This mobilization of the entire city contributes to the unique atmosphere of Saint-Paul.
The entire festival is free and open access, in line with the City of Sarreguemines' desire to offer a popular and unifying event. Saint-Paul is a moment of intergenerational sharing that brings together the inhabitants of Sarreguemines and surrounding towns, as well as many visitors from neighboring Saarland and the Palatinate.
