40th Edition of the Festival de Poupet
For its 40th edition, the Festival de Poupet presents 16 nights of shows and concerts from June 30 to July 24, 2026. The lineup blends international rock (ZZ Top, Dropkick Murphys), French chanson (Vanessa Paradis, Julien Doré, Christophe Maé, Zaz, Claudio Capéo), hip-hop (Vald, Keny Arkana, Youssoupha), electro (Mosimann), and rising stars (Helena, Gaël Faye, Feu! Chatterton), featuring around fifty artists brought together by director and programmer Thomas Maindron.
The festival takes place across two venues: the legendary Théâtre de Verdure in Saint-Malô-du-Bois and the Clairière du Bois Chabot in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, which hosts three major nights—Mosimann and Youssoupha on July 14, Gims on July 22, and Poupet Déraille on July 24. This closing night features a circus theme under the largest illuminated big top in Europe, gathering 30,000 costumed festival-goers.
Also of note is the opening show "Tout Va Très Bien" on June 30 (musical theater, 1,000 seats) and the first Déraille Kids on July 5, a youth-oriented version of the Poupet Déraille experience.

Festival de Poupet: A Vendée Institution
Created in 1987 by the Poupet en Fête association, the Festival de Poupet has established itself as one of the largest open-air festivals in Western France. Every summer, for three to four weeks between late June and late July, the natural site of Poupet in Saint-Malô-du-Bois transforms into a 5,000-seat open-air concert venue.
An Exceptional Venue
The Poupet natural amphitheater is carved into the hillside, offering remarkable acoustics and a unique closeness between artists and the audience. Surrounded by centuries-old oak trees, the site overlooks the Vendée bocage and provides an intimate setting despite its large capacity. The natural slope of the terrain ensures excellent visibility from all spots: the audience watches concerts standing, with general admission, except for the area reserved for people with reduced mobility and partner stands.
A Second Site: La Clairière du Bois Chabot
For its biggest nights, the festival also takes over La Clairière du Bois Chabot in Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, just a few kilometers from the natural theater. This is where the closing night, Poupet Déraille, takes place under the largest illuminated marquee in Europe, in front of 30,000 festival-goers.
A Prestigious Lineup
Over the years, the festival has hosted the greatest artists: Johnny Hallyday, Charles Aznavour, Sting, Bob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, Stromae, Vianney, Orelsan, and Angèle. The program mixes international headliners, French chanson, and new discoveries, with about fifteen evenings spread over the month.
A Festival Rooted in Its Territory
Supported by over 800 volunteers, the Festival de Poupet is a major player in Vendée's cultural life. It generates significant economic benefits for the region and contributes to the influence of the Vendée bocage far beyond the departmental borders.
