The Festival des Randonnées Musicales du Ferrand: music and mountains since 1999

Since 1999, the Festival des Randonnées Musicales du Ferrand has been filling one of the most beautiful valleys in Oisans with music. Supported by the Association du Festival des Randonnées Musicales (AFRM), this atypical itinerant festival takes over three mountain villages every summer: Besse, Clavans, and Mizoën, in a spirit of sharing, discovery, and conviviality.

An original concept: the musical hike

The festival's originality lies in its musical hike concept: artistic performances are held in the middle of the mountains, accessible mainly on foot. Spectators go on hikes to discover the valley, its listed sites, and its cultural heritage, while enjoying musical moments in exceptional natural settings. Piano hikes, guided and sung walks, and conferences on natural and historical heritage complete this unique program.

An eclectic and generous program

The invited artists draw from various musical styles: hip-hop, pop, rock, reggae, groove, funk, electro swing, world music, and folk. Concerts take place in the villages of Besse, Clavans, and Mizoën, followed by shared Spanish-style meals (potluck) where everyone brings a dish to share. Drinks and food are also available for purchase on site.

A festival rooted in its territory

The Festival des Randonnées Musicales is deeply connected to the Ferrand valley, a wild little valley nestled in the heart of Oisans. The three villages of Besse, Clavans, and Mizoën offer a magnificent natural setting, between alpine pastures, forests, and peaks. The festival contributes to the cultural and tourist life of these mountain villages, attracting a loyal and curious audience each summer.

Accessibility and free admission

The majority of events are free, thanks to the financial support of the Communauté de Communes de l'Oisans, the Département de l'Isère, and local municipalities. This free access policy allows as many people as possible to enjoy the festival's cultural richness in a spirit of openness and sharing.

Films, conferences, and workshops

Beyond the concerts, the festival offers film screenings, conferences on the valley's natural and historical heritage, exhibitions, and workshops that enrich the festival-goers' experience. These complementary activities make the Festival des Randonnées Musicales a multidisciplinary event where culture is experienced in all its forms.
