Chamber music in the heritage jewels of the Lot valley
The Festival en Vallée d'Olt is a summer chamber music event founded in 1994 in Saint-Geniez-d'Olt, in Aveyron. Every summer, for about ten days in July, exceptional musicians gather to offer concerts in prestigious heritage sites in the Lot valley: the cloister and parish church of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt, the church of Saint-Côme-d'Olt, and the square of Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt. Supported by the association Orgues & Musiques à Saint-Geniez d'Olt, the festival combines musical excellence and discovery of the Aveyron heritage.
Founded in 1994, the Festival en Vallée d'Olt has established itself over the years as one of the unmissable events for chamber music in the South of France. For about ten days each summer, in July, passionate and exceptional musicians gather to share the great classical repertoire in the enchanting setting of the Lot valley, in the heart of Aveyron.
The originality of the festival lies in its choice of concert venues. Spectators are invited to discover music in remarkable architectural settings: the cloister of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt, the town's parish church, the Romanesque church of Saint-Côme-d'Olt, and the village square of Sainte-Eulalie-d'Olt. Each concert is thus a double invitation: to listen to music and to contemplate heritage.
The festival also includes a chamber music academy, where young instrumentalists receive instruction from the performing musicians themselves. This educational dimension reinforces the festival's mission: to pass on the passion for classical music and train the talents of tomorrow, in an environment conducive to creation and exchange.
Supported since its origins by the association Orgues & Musiques à Saint-Geniez d'Olt – Festival en Vallée d'Olt, the event benefits from the support of the Department of Aveyron, the Occitanie Region, and numerous volunteers. It contributes to the cultural and tourist influence of the small character town of Saint-Geniez-d'Olt-et-d'Aubrac and the entire Lot valley.
The 32nd edition of the Festival en Vallée d'Olt is expected in July 2026 in Saint-Geniez-d'Olt. Chamber music in the heritage sites of the Lot valley, academy for young instrumentalists.
