Vendée back-to-school festival discontinued in 2024 (last edition)
There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. After 25 editions, the Face & Si Festival has bowed out: the last edition was held in September 2024, and the 2025 edition has been cancelled. The municipality of Mouilleron-le-Captif announced at the end of 2024 the end of its financial support for the event (subsidy not renewed), due to rising costs, soaring artist fees, and declining attendance. The festival no longer takes place in its historical format.
Born in 1998 in Mouilleron-le-Captif, the Face & Si Festival had become, over the editions, an unmissable event of the Vendée cultural back-to-school season. Every first weekend of September, the Parc de Beaupuy hosted more than twenty groups and artists in an eclectic program mixing contemporary music, French chanson, humor, and street arts. Supported by nearly 600 volunteers and 200 partners, this family-friendly and authentic festival brought together young and old in a 33-hectare green setting, just a stone's throw from La Roche-sur-Yon. At its peak, it gathered up to 20,000 festival-goers for a budget of around €650,000.
Created in 1998 by and for the inhabitants of Mouilleron-le-Captif, Festival Face & Si has established itself as one of the major cultural events in the Vendée department. Initially located at the Étangs in the commune, the festival moved in 2014 to the magnificent Parc de Beaupuy, a 33-hectare estate with a body of water, meadows, and woods surrounding an old mansion built in 1871.
Face & Si stands out for the richness of its program, which embraces all genres: contemporary music, French chanson, rock, variety, humor, and street arts. Over the years, the festival has hosted renowned artists such as Patrick Bruel, Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Louis Bertignac, 47ter, Boulevard des Airs, Hoshi, Gauvain Sers, Ridsa, and Naïve New Beaters. More than twenty groups perform each year on the festival's various stages.
The festival is organized around three complementary spaces. The Grand Chapiteau, a covered stage that can accommodate up to 4,000 standing people, hosts the headliners over two evenings. The Petit Chapiteau, with a capacity of 600 seats, offers shows for young audiences and musical discoveries. Finally, the Village, a free open-air space, brings together food and drink, family entertainment, wooden games, emerging artists, and DJ sets.
A unifying event par excellence, Face & Si mobilizes nearly 600 volunteers and 200 public and private partners. The 20th-anniversary edition in 2017, with Patrick Bruel as the headliner, attracted a record 20,000 festival-goers over three days. The festival embodies the friendly and supportive spirit of the Vendée region, offering a moment of intergenerational sharing at the start of September.
ℹ️ 2026 Edition cancelled — festival stopped. No 2026 edition of the Festival Face & Si is taking place at Parc de Beaupuy. After 25 editions (1998-2024), the festival has definitively ceased: the 2025 edition had already been cancelled, and the municipality of Mouilleron-le-Captif announced at the end of 2024 the end of its financial support for the event. The emblematic event of the Vendée cultural season's return is no longer held in its historical format.
ℹ️ 2026 Edition cancelled — festival stopped.
The Festival Face & Si is not organizing an edition in September 2026. After a last edition held in September 2024, the 2025 edition had been cancelled for budgetary and logistical reasons, and the end of the municipal subsidy, announced at the end of 2024, put an end to this event which enlivened Parc de Beaupuy every autumn. Should a new cultural project emerge in Mouilleron-le-Captif, information would be published on the official website and social media of the festival.
