The winter festival of electronic and hip-hop music in the Grand Est
The Festival Freeeeze is a festival of electronic and hip-hop music created in 2011 by the association Boumchaka. For about a month in winter, it warms up the concert halls of the Grand Est with a program mixing electro, hip-hop, rap, dance, and beatbox. The festival takes place in several cities including Metz, Nancy, Thionville, and Épinal, taking over emblematic cultural venues like Les Trinitaires, La BAM, or Le Puzzle. It stands out for its desire to blend electronic and hip-hop music on the same stage.
Created in 2011 by the Boumchaka association, Festival Freeeeze has become over the years an unmissable winter event for lovers of electronic and hip-hop music in the Grand Est. The festival's original concept is based on the ambition to present these two musical universes on the same stage, in an eclectic and bold program.
One of Freeeeze's unique features is its traveling format. The festival unfolds over about a month in several cities and concert halls:
This territorial network allows it to reach a wide audience and energize the music scene of the entire region during the winter season.
Festival Freeeeze features artists from the electro, hip-hop, rap, dance, and beatbox scenes, mixing national headliners and local discoveries. Past editions have hosted artists such as Josman, Sadek, Davodka, Dooz Kawa, Delinquent Habits, and Molecule, as well as many emerging artists from the Grand Est scene.
Beyond traditional concerts, Freeeeze offers original events centered around music: dance battles, showcases, beatbox workshops, DJ sets, and club nights. The festival contributes to the professionalization of the local music scene by offering visibility to emerging artists from the Grand Est and the Greater Region.
The Boumchaka association, based in Metz, is the driving force behind the festival. It works throughout the year to promote contemporary music, organize festive events, and support local artists. Festival Freeeeze is its flagship event, uniting a network of venues and cultural partners throughout the region.
