The guitarists' meeting in the heart of the Vosges
Organized by the association Vis-à-Vis since 2009, the Festival Guitares à Saint-Dié-des-Vosges celebrates guitar in all its forms every summer in the heart of the Déodatien region. During a friendly weekend at the Maison Mosaïque, blues, gypsy jazz, folk, classical, and rock music come together through free concerts, open stages, lutherie workshops, and activities for all audiences. This intimate festival highlights local and regional artists in a warm and accessible atmosphere.
Born in 2009 from the passion of a group of musicians united within the Vis-à-Vis association, the Festival Guitares à Saint-Dié-des-Vosges has established itself over the years as a must-attend event for guitar lovers in the Grand Est region. Every summer, the Maison Mosaïque, located on rue d'Ortimont in the historic district of Saint-Dié, transforms into a true guitar village where seasoned musicians, enlightened amateurs, and curious people of all ages meet.
The festival's strength lies in the diversity of its programming, entirely focused on the guitar. From electric blues to gypsy jazz, from classical guitar to indie folk, including rock and French chanson, each edition explores the multiple facets of the instrument. The festival has notably hosted Fred Blondin (blues-rock), Swing Family (gypsy jazz), Franck Besson (classical guitar), Les Vieilles Caisses, Matt is a Grown Man (indie folk), Ahmed el Salam, Morik, Bruno Brel, Concurrence Déloyale, and many talented regional artists. The open stage on Saturday afternoon offers everyone the opportunity to get on stage and share their passion.
The Guitares Festival is not limited to concerts alone. Each edition offers a rich program of activities and workshops that make the event unique: a "Build your own ukulele" workshop led by a professional luthier, a "Minute recording studio" where anyone can record their performance, a shop for used vinyls and CDs, a drawing contest about the guitar, as well as a refreshment stand and light catering offered at affordable prices. These activities create a festive and participatory atmosphere that distinguishes Guitares à Saint-Dié from traditional festivals.
Driven by passionate volunteers, the festival is entirely free, true to the philosophy of the Vis-à-Vis association, which aims to make culture accessible to all. Over the years, the festival has managed to unite a loyal community of music lovers and guitarists from the Vosges massif and beyond, actively contributing to the summer cultural life of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges and the musical influence of the department.
The Festival Guitares returns to the Maison Mosaïque in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges for a new summer edition. Free concerts, open stages, lutherie workshops, and activities centered around the guitar are on the program for this friendly weekend.
The Festival Guitares is preparing its return to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges for the summer of 2026. The Vis-à-Vis association is crafting a new program blending blues, gypsy jazz, folk, and classical guitar at the Maison Mosaïque. Details of the program and activities will be announced on the festival's Facebook page during the spring of 2026.
