About Toiles Filantes
Les Toiles Filantes is an annual youth film festival held every February at the Cinéma Jean Eustache in Pessac, within the Bordeaux metropolitan area. For one week, it offers children and families a curated selection of animated films, features, and documentaries, complemented by meetings with film professionals, workshops, and activities centered around an annual theme. The festival includes a competition of preview screenings judged by several children's juries and a professional jury, concluding with an awards ceremony.
Toiles Filantes — edition 2026
For its 21st edition, the Les Toiles Filantes festival embraces science with the theme "Bring Your Science!"—a week dedicated to curiosity and experimentation, viewed through the eyes of a child. Six preview films are presented in competition, alongside meetings with scientists (Cap Sciences, Bordeaux Museum, INRAP, Bordeaux Imaging Center) and author-director Pauline Pinson, president of the professional jury.
Bring Your Science!
The 2026 theme celebrates scientific curiosity through animated and feature films, ranging from A Trip to the Moon to Tante Hilda!, as well as the Back to the Future trilogy marathon on Friday. The festival is supported by numerous scientific outreach partners (Cap Sciences, Bordeaux Museum, Bordeaux Botanical Garden, INRAP, Saucats-La Brede Geological Nature Reserve, Bordeaux Imaging Center, Les Petits Debrouillards, 123Codage).
A Week of Workshops and Meetings
Alongside the screenings, the festival offers workshops (water rocket building, color chemistry, sound effects, fossils, modeling clay...), meetings with film professionals (sound editor Ivan Broussegoutte, screenwriter Alain Layrac), and author-director Pauline Pinson, our guest and president of the professional jury. An industry day is organized on Friday in partnership with CINA and ACPG.

The full program for the 21st edition (theme: "Bring Your Science!"), published by the Cinema Jean Eustache, the festival organizer, is available at lestoilesfilantes.org (downloadable PDF brochure). The jury awards (P'tite Unipop, Pessac and Merignac recreation centers, Club Cine, and the professional jury chaired by Pauline Pinson) were announced on Saturday, February 21, 2026, during the closing ceremony.
Prices: 6 euros (under 18s and films under 1 hour for everyone); 7 euros (family rate, for 3+ people for the same film); other rates (standard, Passe-Gazette and 36 chandelles cards) can be found on the cinema's website. Location
Cinéma Jean Eustache, 7 rue des Poilus, 33600 Pessac.
Access
Tram line B, terminus Pessac Centre (station 100m from the cinema, a tram every 6 to 10 minutes, about 30 minutes from Bordeaux city center). Bus lines 4, 24, 30, 35, 55, 74, 77, 78, and 87, stops Pessac Centre or Pessac Gare. TER train from Bordeaux Saint-Jean station (Bordeaux-Arcachon line), with the Pessac station located next to the tram terminus. Bicycle parking and a V3 self-service bike station are available in front of the cinema.

A festival hosted by the Cinéma Jean Eustache
Les Toiles Filantes is organized by the Cinéma Jean Eustache (a non-profit association) as part of its film education initiative, L'École du Regard. The festival is supported by the City of Pessac, the CNC, the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council, and the Gironde Departmental Council.
A new theme every year
Each edition explores a unique theme through its film selection: in 2026, the 21st edition focused on science (Ramène ta science!), with the help of scientific and cultural partners such as Cap Sciences, the Muséum de Bordeaux, INRAP, and the Bordeaux Botanical Garden. The 2025 edition (the 20th) was themed around games, titled "À vous de jouer!" (Your turn to play!).
Competition and juries
A selection of preview films is presented in competition for the audience award and for several children's juries (from Pessac and Mérignac leisure centers and an 11-15 year old film club), as well as a professional jury. The winners are announced during the closing ceremony.
