Itinerant festival of Haut-Languedoc, late May
Festival Marée Haute is a multidisciplinary and itinerant festival of Haut-Languedoc. For four days in late May, it invites the public to stroll from one village to another, to be surprised by street performances and to end each evening with music at large popular festivities.
The program unfolds across several communes, including La Salvetat-sur-Agout (Hérault), Lacaune, Murat-sur-Vèbre, Nages, Moulin-Mage, Barre and Viane (Tarn). To connect the different sites, a free shuttle service by reservation — the « Sardine Mobile » — accompanies festival-goers from one show to another. The event contributes to the cultural and tourist dynamism of the territory, between the landscapes of the Lacaune mountains and the setting of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park.
Each edition combines concerts, street theatre, brass bands, guided hikes, culinary experiences (recipes featuring sardines and chickpeas) and conviviality. Many activities are free, while some concerts are paid. The full program is announced each year on the official channels of the event.
Festival Marée Haute is above all a moment of sharing. Enlightened enthusiasts as well as simple curious visitors will find something to enjoy, carried by the warm welcome of the organisers and volunteers who make each edition a memorable souvenir.
