About Festival Marée Haute

Multidisciplinary and itinerant festival combining music, street theatre, brass bands, hikes and large popular festivities, organised in late May across several villages of Haut-Languedoc, including La Salvetat-sur-Agout (Hérault) and Lacaune (Tarn), in Occitanie.

Festival Marée Haute, in the heart of Haut-Languedoc

Festival Marée Haute is a multidisciplinary and itinerant festival of Haut-Languedoc. For four days in late May, it invites the public to stroll from one village to another, to be surprised by street performances and to end each evening with music at large popular festivities.

A nomadic festival between Hérault and Tarn

The program unfolds across several communes, including La Salvetat-sur-Agout (Hérault), Lacaune, Murat-sur-Vèbre, Nages, Moulin-Mage, Barre and Viane (Tarn). To connect the different sites, a free shuttle service by reservation — the « Sardine Mobile » — accompanies festival-goers from one show to another. The event contributes to the cultural and tourist dynamism of the territory, between the landscapes of the Lacaune mountains and the setting of the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park.

Program and activities

Each edition combines concerts, street theatre, brass bands, guided hikes, culinary experiences (recipes featuring sardines and chickpeas) and conviviality. Many activities are free, while some concerts are paid. The full program is announced each year on the official channels of the event.

A convivial gathering

Festival Marée Haute is above all a moment of sharing. Enlightened enthusiasts as well as simple curious visitors will find something to enjoy, carried by the warm welcome of the organisers and volunteers who make each edition a memorable souvenir.

Festival Marée Haute — edition 2026

2026 Edition (#4) of the Festival Marée Haute, from May 22nd to 25th, 2026: four days of itinerant festival in the heart of Haut-Languedoc, with concerts, street shows, brass bands, hikes, and popular festivities in several villages including La Salvetat-sur-Agout.

Festival Marée Haute — 2026 Edition (#4)

The Festival Marée Haute takes place from May 22nd to 25th, 2026 for its 4th edition. Itinerant, it offers four days of walks in the heart of Haut-Languedoc, shows in the villages, and every evening large popular festivities with music. The sites are connected by a free shuttle service upon reservation, the « Sardine Mobile ».

The 2026 edition honors France Cabrol, a visionary entrepreneur from the beginning of the last century, the first to introduce chickpeas and then sardines into the valleys of the territory — a nod to the sardine and chickpea recipes offered during the festival.

The festival unfolds across several communes in Haut-Languedoc, including La Salvetat-sur-Agout, Lacaune, Murat-sur-Vèbre, Nages, Moulin-Mage, Barre, and Viane. On Monday, May 25th, in Viane, a giant banquet centered around the « chichoulet » (chickpea dish) closes the edition.
