The festival of the world's greatest eccentrics and clowns
The Festival MondoClowns is a unique event in France dedicated to the art of clowning, organized every year in February in Marmande (Lot-et-Garonne). Created in 2016 by Thierry Planès, a multi-talented artist (writer, actor, painter, sculptor), the festival brings together the world's greatest clowns and eccentrics on the stage of the Théâtre Comoedia for an original show blending poetry, magic, comedy, and emotion. Parades in town, exhibitions, film screenings, and meetings complete this joyful celebration of clowning art.
Since 2016, the Festival MondoClowns has transformed the town of Marmande into the world capital of clowns every winter. Created and orchestrated by Thierry Planès, a multifaceted artist (writer, actor, painter, sculptor, and Master of Ceremonies for the festival), this event has become a must-attend for lovers of circus arts and live performance in Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
The Festival MondoClowns stands out with its singular concept: bringing together the world's greatest clowns and eccentrics on the same stage in an original show created specifically for each edition. Every year, Thierry Planès conceives a new thematic creation that brings together internationally renowned artists around a common thread blending laughter, poetry, magic, and emotion.
The shows take place at the Théâtre Comoedia, a magnificent performance venue located in the heart of Marmande, at 30 rue Léopold Faye. Over four days, six performances of the main show are offered, providing the public with multiple opportunities to discover these exceptional artists.
The Festival MondoClowns offers a rich and varied program that goes beyond the stage show:
Since its creation, the festival has grown and renewed itself with each edition:
