Classical music festival in the heart of Burgundy's wine heritage sites
Founded in 2009, the Festival Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot was born from the conviction that music and wine share common values: excellence, transmission, and terroir. Every late June, for a week, the festival takes over the most beautiful heritage sites of the Côte-d'Or — the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the Abbaye de Saint-Vivant, and other historic locations — for classical music concerts followed by tastings of great Burgundy wines.
The festival's programming features internationally renowned soloists and ensembles: virtuoso pianists, prestigious string quartets, opera singers, and chamber orchestras. The 2025 edition featured the piano with three great soloists. The festival relies on its own instrumental fund, enriched each year, which allows artists to access exceptional instruments.
The Château du Clos de Vougeot, a 12th-century Cistercian monument, is the main venue for the festival. Its medieval cellars and wine vat room offer remarkable natural acoustics for concerts. The Abbaye de Saint-Vivant, another jewel of Burgundy's heritage, also hosts concerts in a setting imbued with spirituality and serenity.
Each concert is followed by a tasting of great Burgundy vintages offered by the festival's partner winemakers. This unique formula allows festival-goers to extend the musical emotion by discovering the greatest Burgundy terroirs, in an atmosphere of sharing and conviviality.
The 18th edition of the Festival Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot takes place from June 20 to 28, 2026, in four major heritage sites of Burgundy: the Château du Clos de Vougeot, the Hôtel-Dieu des Hospices de Beaune, the Abbaye de Saint-Vivant, and the Château de Meursault. A program focused on youth, featuring Sir András Schiff, Seong-Jin Cho, and the Quatuor Magenta as headliners, punctuated by tastings from over 50 Burgundy estates.
From June 20 to 28, 2026, the Festival Musique & Vin au Clos Vougeot celebrates its 18th edition around a clear common thread: transmission and youth. Three Young Talents 2026 open the festival on June 20: the French-Catalan soprano Lauranne Oliva, the American violinist Jason Moon, and the American pianist Daniel Strebulaev, accompanied by the festival's instrumental fund which will lend 4 violins and 3 cellos to young performers this year.
The 2026 edition unfolds across four emblematic sites of the Côte-d'Or: the Château du Clos de Vougeot (medieval winery), the Hôtel-Dieu des Hospices de Beaune (inner courtyard), the Abbaye de Saint-Vivant in Curtil-Vergy, and the Château de Meursault. The closing concert on June 28 brings together the Orchestre des Climats de Bourgogne under the direction of Daniel Harding, surrounded by numerous beneficiaries of the instrumental fund.
South Korean pianist Seong-Jin Cho gives a recital on Saturday, June 27 at 7 PM in the Cour de l'Hôtel-Dieu (Bach, Partita No. 1 BWV 825; Chopin, Waltzes, Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2, and Polonaise "Heroic" Op. 53). Sir András Schiff performs a recital on June 24 and 25 in the Cour de l'Hôtel-Dieu. The Quatuor Magenta plays at the Abbaye de Saint-Vivant on June 23 with its unique ensemble of instruments carved from the same wood by luthier Peter Greiner.
On June 22, 24, and 26, about fifty Burgundy estates offer their tastings in the old winery of the Château du Clos de Vougeot and in the park of the Château de Meursault. Sotheby's organizes an online auction of grand crus (from June 15 to 30) and live during the gala dinner on June 28 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, for the benefit of the instrumental fund.
