The musical Saturdays of summer on the Verdun quays
Since its creation, the Festival Musiques et Terrasses (MET) has established itself as one of the major cultural events of the Verdun summer. Organized by Contre-Courant MJC with the support of the Communauté d'Agglomération du Grand Verdun, this free festival offers an ambitious and accessible musical program for everyone, every Saturday evening from late June to early August.
The concerts take place on the Quai de Londres, in the heart of Verdun, by the Meuse river. This open-air setting offers a unique atmosphere, between lively café terraces and riverbanks. Every Saturday, from 9 PM to midnight, spectators enjoy live performances in a friendly and relaxed setting.
The strength of the festival lies in its resolutely eclectic, popular, unifying, daring, surprising, and joyful program. Over the five Saturdays, musical genres cross and blend: hip-hop, rock, jazz-rock, psychedelic cosmofunk, post-punk, garage rock, indie rock, gypsy punk, dub, and roots reggae. This musical diversity reaches a very wide audience, from rock enthusiasts to world music lovers.
One of the major assets of the Festival Musiques et Terrasses is its total freeness. All concerts are free access, with no age restrictions. This philosophy, championed from the beginning by Contre-Courant MJC, makes the festival a true space for cultural encounters and sharing, where families, young and old, gather every week around live music.
Beyond the musical program, the Festival Musiques et Terrasses contributes to the summer entertainment in Verdun and the cultural dynamism of the Meuse region. The terraces of the restaurants and cafés on Quai de Londres vibrate to the rhythm of the concerts, creating a synergy between cultural event and local economic life. The festival thus fully participates in Verdun's influence as a cultural destination in the Grand Est region.
Contre-Courant MJC, based in Belleville-sur-Meuse, is the organizing body of the festival. Active throughout the year, it offers a varied cultural program and advocates for access to culture for all in the Meuse territory.
The concerts take place on the Quai de Londres, 55100 Verdun, by the Meuse river in the city center.
Concerts take place every Saturday evening from 9 PM to midnight, from late June to early August (5 Saturdays). The detailed program is available on the Contre-Courant MJC website and on the festival's social media.
