Celebration of nature, trees, and biodiversity in Lamorlaye
The Festival of the Tree and Nature is an annual event organized in Lamorlaye, in the heart of the Chantilly forest, dedicated to environmental awareness and the valorization of natural heritage. For about ten days in November, the festival offers photographic exhibitions, conferences, screenings, nature walks, educational workshops, and shows centered around the theme of trees and biodiversity. It is part of the regional initiative Hauts-de-France Nature.
Every year in November, the town of Lamorlaye, nestled at the gates of the Chantilly forest in the Oise region, celebrates nature and trees through a festival rich in discoveries and emotions. The Festival of the Tree and Nature brings together naturalists, artists, environmental associations, and the general public around a varied and accessible program for everyone.
The festival spans about ten days with multiple activities:
The Lamorlaye castle hosts part of the exhibitions and events. This heritage building, surrounded by a wooded park, offers an ideal setting to discover the works of artists inspired by nature. The exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, and photographs celebrate the beauty of trees and forest landscapes of the Oise.
The festival particularly highlights the Lys estate, certified as a "remarkable wooded area". This exceptional site, home to ancient trees and rich biodiversity, is the subject of guided tours and certification ceremonies during the festival. It's an opportunity to raise public awareness about the importance of preserving natural spaces in peri-urban areas.
Among the festival's highlights, the Insectobus from the Office for Insects and their Environment (OPIE) sets up in Lamorlaye for a week. This mobile unit offers educational activities for classes and the general public, allowing them to discover the fascinating world of insects through binocular microscope observations, games, and creative workshops.
The Festival of the Tree and Nature is part of an initiative to promote the natural heritage of the Oise and the Hauts-de-France region. It is supported by the municipality of Lamorlaye, the Department of Oise, and the Region, and involves numerous local associations such as l'Agrion de l'Oise and the Université Populaire de la Biosphère.
