The oldest fair in the Oise, a centuries-old tradition of Creil
The Foire aux Marrons of Creil is an institution that has spanned centuries. With over 800 years of history, it is among the oldest fairs in France. Every first Sunday of November, the town center of Creil comes alive for this great popular festival that perpetuates an ancestral tradition.
The fair brings together over 220 exhibitors who take over the streets and squares of the town center. You can find a wide range of products: crafts, clothing, jewelry, decoration, local products, confectionery, and, of course, the essential roasted chestnuts that fill the streets with their characteristic aroma.
Associated with the fair, a large clearance sale allows visitors to find bargains in the town center shops, which open exceptionally for the occasion. This day is a major commercial event for the town.
Fairground rides are set up in the town center for the delight of families. Various entertainment events punctuate the day, creating a festive and friendly atmosphere. The traditional tombola with exceptional prizes to be won attracts many participants.
The Foire aux Marrons is a moment of gathering and conviviality for the inhabitants of Creil and the surrounding towns. It testifies to the population's attachment to its traditions and is a highlight of local life, attracting thousands of visitors to the town center streets each year.
Creil, a sub-prefecture of the Oise located on the banks of the Oise, 60 km north of Paris, uses this fair to showcase its commercial dynamism and its cultural identity. The town, easily accessible by train from Paris, offers a pleasant setting for this autumn outing.

Like every first Sunday of November, the Chestnut Fair returns to Creil on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm. For this 815th edition, approximately 300 exhibitors take over the streets and squares of the city center for the oldest fair in Oise, whose tradition dates back more than eight centuries.
The fair is accompanied by a large clearance sale: city center merchants open their shops and numerous stands offer crafts, clothing, local products, and confectionery. The essential roasted chestnuts perfume the streets, while fairground rides are set up for the enjoyment of families.
An emblematic animation of the fair, the "lucky chestnut" allows adults to try and win numerous prizes offered by the City and its partners (culture vouchers, swimming pool and theater tickets, workshops, weekends, and trips). A "gourmet chestnuts" version is also offered to children.
