Festival Sonik: A Sonic Tasting in Quimper

The Sonik Festival was born in 2013 within the Théâtre de Cornouaille, Quimper's national theater. Conceived as a "sonic tasting," this original festival offers a musical journey each spring where music playfully captures the imagination. In a decade, Sonik has become a must-attend event for contemporary musical creation in Cornouaille.

A Claimed Eclecticism

Sonik distinguishes itself by its asserted eclecticism. The festival boldly mixes contemporary classical music, jazz, world music, Breton and atypical traditional music, as well as hybrid forms blending music, theater, and performance. Each edition features about ten shows and concerts spread over several weeks, allowing audiences to discover internationally renowned artists in varied and often surprising genres.

Iconic Venues in Quimper

One of the riches of the Sonik Festival lies in the diversity of its performance venues. Concerts take place in the Saint-Corentin Cathedral, the large and small halls of the Théâtre de Cornouaille, the Théâtre Max Jacob, the Novomax, and even outdoor spaces. This urban itinerary creates unique acoustic experiences, with each venue bringing its own sound and atmosphere to the musical program.

A Festival Supported by a National Theater

Sonik benefits from the expertise and network of the Théâtre de Cornouaille, one of Brittany's national theaters. This institutional backing allows the festival to program top-tier artists while maintaining accessible prices (€26 full price, €18 reduced price, €12 for under 12s). The festival notably collaborates with the Ensemble Sillages, a contemporary music ensemble based in Quimper, strengthening the event's local roots.
