Live music in the heart of the medieval town of Lautrec
Festiv'août is a free open-air contemporary music festival held annually in mid-August in the medieval town of Lautrec, in the Tarn region. Supported by volunteers from the Si&si association for over twenty years, this friendly and family-oriented event offers three evenings of free concerts in the natural amphitheater of La Caussade. The eclectic and demanding program covers all facets of contemporary music: world music, blues, chanson, folk, reggae, afrobeat, rock, and electronic music. Local food, drinks, and on-site camping complete a festive experience rooted in the values of sharing and cultural accessibility in a rural setting.
Nestled in the heart of the medieval town of Lautrec, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Festiv'août transforms the natural amphitheater of La Caussade into an open-air stage each summer, featuring artists from diverse musical backgrounds. Since its creation in 2006 by the Si&si association, this entirely free festival has grown to become a must-attend event on the Tarn music scene.
Festiv'août's philosophy is based on musical diversity and discovery. Over three evenings, the audience can journey through world music, blues, French chanson, folk, reggae, afrobeat, rock, and fusion music. Each edition offers its share of surprises with emerging artists alongside more established acts. Among the artists who have graced the La Caussade stage are Madam, Galim Attias, Terestesa, Kafé Gata, Alumine Guerrero, Studio Shap Shap, and Izoi.
Festiv'août is more than just a music festival. The Si&si association upholds strong values of solidarity, sustainable development, and support for short supply chains. The bar and food stalls feature local producers and organic products, in a conscious effort to combat food waste. Free on-site camping reinforces the community spirit and allows festival-goers to fully enjoy the unique atmosphere of the venue.
Alongside the evening concerts, Festiv'août annually offers a family show organized by Café Plùm, an emblematic cultural venue in Lautrec, held in the village's central square or its inner courtyard. This program for young audiences reflects the festival's commitment to engaging all generations.
The La Caussade amphitheater provides an ideal natural setting for open-air concerts. Backed by the ramparts of the medieval town, this site, bathed in the golden evening light of the Tarn region, offers remarkable acoustics and a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside. The warm and relaxed atmosphere, the quality of the programmed artists, and the complete freeness make Festiv'août a unique event in the Occitan festival landscape.
