Fest'Yzol: Circus Takes Over the Heart of Finistère Towns

Since 2023, Fest'Yzol has been bringing the public squares of Bannalec, Saint-Thurien, and Scaër to life with the rhythm of circus and street arts. This unique festival was born from a shared desire by the three municipalities to pool their resources to offer an ambitious cultural event, rooted in their rural territory in southeastern Finistère.

A Traveling and Collaborative Festival

The originality of Fest'Yzol lies in its traveling and inter-municipal nature. Each edition unfolds across the three towns, with a main big top alternately set up in the central squares. The first edition, in 2023, was held at Troysol in Saint-Thurien, while the second, in 2024, took place at Place Yves-Tanguy in Bannalec. This rotation allows the festival to reach a wide audience and strengthen ties between the residents of the three towns.

Contemporary Circus Companies

The festival invites renowned contemporary circus companies to perform under the big top and in the open air. The 2024 edition hosted six companies: Los Fariniz with their quirky street performances, Lion's Circus, Little Big Swing, Compagnie Absurcus blending acrobatics, juggling, and humor, La Famille Bouffard, and Compagnie Roue Libre. Each edition renews its program while maintaining the festive and accessible spirit that characterizes Fest'Yzol.

An Event Serving the Territory

Beyond live performance, Fest'Yzol contributes to the cultural dynamism and attractiveness of this rural area of Quimperlé Communauté. The festival unites volunteers, local associations, and institutions around a common project, demonstrating that quality culture can flourish far from major cities. The shows, often free or low-cost, allow all audiences to discover contemporary circus in a warm and participatory atmosphere.

A Growing Adventure

With two successful editions, Fest'Yzol has established itself as a lasting fixture in the cultural landscape of Finistère. The festival continues to grow by enriching its programming and strengthening its partnerships with local and regional cultural organizations, affirming its role as an essential festive event in the southeastern part of the department.
