The Fête d'Ollainville: festive traditions of a village in Beauce essonnienne
Perched on the Beauce plateau west of Essonne, the village of Ollainville has preserved the spirit of community and solidarity that characterizes the rural villages of the region. Its annual popular festival, organized by the Ollainville Festival Committee, is the special time when residents, all generations combined, come together to share a moment of joy and conviviality.
The Ollainville Festival Committee: a pillar of local life
The Ollainville - La Roche Festival Committee is the association that presides over the destiny of the communal festivities. Composed of passionate and committed volunteers, this committee organizes events throughout the year that punctuate local life: municipal calendars, dance evenings, neighborhood meals, and of course, the big annual festival which is its flagship activity. The association is recognized as being of public utility and benefits from the support of the Ollainville town hall.
A festival for all generations
The Fête d'Ollainville is designed as an intergenerational event, capable of satisfying everyone from kindergarteners to the village elders. Funfair rides and inflatable games delight children, while adults enjoy the food stalls, skill games, and dance floor. Seniors, for their part, are happy to reconnect with their neighbors and friends over a shared meal or a game of pétanque.
The associative fair is a key moment of the festival: each village association — sports club, cultural association, parents' association, mutual aid group — holds its stand and presents its activities, offering residents the opportunity to get involved and join the rich associative fabric of Ollainville.
Music, dance, and fireworks
The musical dimension is essential: local bands and DJs animate the main stage throughout the day, offering various musical genres to satisfy all tastes. In the evening, a popular ball brings dancers together on the improvised dance floor in the village hall or outdoors, in the great tradition of French village festivals.
The fireworks are the anticipated finale of the festival: set off at the end of the evening from the stadium or a clear space in the commune, they illuminate the sky of the Beauce plateau with a cascade of colorful lights, offering an admirable spectacle to all the gathered spectators. This magical moment is often the most memorable of the day for families.
Ollainville: a village that retains its rural character
Ollainville is a village of about 4,000 inhabitants that has managed to preserve its rural character despite its proximity to the Parisian agglomeration. Its 16th-century Saint-Sulpice church, its traditional farms, and its large-scale agricultural landscapes evoke a still-living rural world. The communal festival contributes to this desire to maintain social ties and the sense of belonging to an authentic village community, even while integrated into the fabric of the greater Parisian suburbs.
