About Fête de la Brioche

The Fête de la Brioche is a gastronomic event organized every summer in Vitteaux by the Union Commerciale, Industrielle et Artisanale (UCIA). For over 30 years, this festival has celebrated the traditional brioche baked in a giant wood-fired oven, featuring a competition for professional bakers, a market of local producers, and musical entertainment. In 2022, the 30th edition broke a world record with a brioche weighing 516 kg and measuring 5 meters in diameter.

Over 30 years of baking tradition

The Fête de la Brioche is one of the flagship events of Vitteaux, a medieval town in Auxois, Côte-d'Or. Organized every year in July by the Union Commerciale, Industrielle et Artisanale (UCIA) of Vitteaux, this festival has been celebrating the traditional brioche, an emblematic baking specialty of the region, for over 30 years. The event takes place in the municipal park and attracts several thousand visitors.

The giant wood-fired oven and the world record

The highlight of the Fête de la Brioche is the baking of over 1,200 brioches in a giant wood-fired oven specially built in 2022. This oven enabled, during the 30th edition, the breaking of a world record with a spectacular brioche weighing 516 kilos and measuring 5 meters in diameter. The brioche is made from local products and carries the « 100% Côte d'Or » label.

Bakers' competition and festive entertainment

The morning begins with a competition for young apprentice bakers who present their creations, followed in the afternoon by the grand competition for professional bakers from Burgundy, with a public prize and a professional prize. A market of local producers, musical entertainment, and an outdoor DJ party complete this gourmet and festive day.

Fête de la Brioche — edition 2026

The 34th edition of the Fête de la Brioche will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the municipal park of Vitteaux (Côte-d'Or). Organized by the UCIA, this great gourmet festival celebrates brioche baked in a giant wood-fired oven, featuring a market of producers and artisans, a bakers' competition, and entertainment throughout the day and evening. Free admission.

Vitteaux's iconic gourmet festival

For its 34th edition, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, the Fête de la Brioche will take over the municipal park of Vitteaux (route d'Avallon) from 9 AM until the evening. More than 1,000 brioches are baked before the public's eyes in an impressive giant wood-fired oven — the very one that set a world record in 2022 with a brioche weighing 516 kg and measuring 5 meters in diameter.

The day combines gastronomy, craftsmanship, and conviviality: a market of local producers and artisans, baking demonstrations, a competition for professional bakers from Bourgogne (with public and professional votes), a brioche competition for children, workshops and entertainment for families, followed in the evening by a festive open-air atmosphere. Admission is free, and the site is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be specified by the UCIA closer to the event; the schedule below reflects the usual format of the festival, which remains stable from year to year.
