Great maritime and musical festival at the port of Gwin Zegal in Plouha
The Fête de la Mer de Gwin Zegal is held every summer at the port of Gwin Zegal, a small fishing port located in Plouha, Côtes-d'Armor. This unique port in Europe, known for its suspended moorings on wooden stakes planted in the sand, offers an exceptional maritime setting for this popular festival day.
The day begins with the blessing of the sea, followed by a bagad concert on stage. The sea shanties by the Bordée de Plouha at 4 PM are a highlight of the day, perpetuating the maritime tradition of this coastal town in Côtes-d'Armor.
The program includes demonstrations and initiations to Breton dances, various beach activities (beach games, introduction to water walking, marine knots, inflatable structures, climbing wall), a raffle with over 2,000 euros in prizes and 50 winners, and a lobster lottery. Duck fishing and children's activities complete the family program.
In the evening, a popular ball at 9 PM kicks off the night festivities, followed by the grand fireworks display at 11 PM that illuminates the bay. On-site catering offers scallops, mussels with fries, and galettes-saucisses.
The 2026 edition of the Fête de la Mer de Gwin Zegal will be held on Wednesday, August 12 at the port of Gwin Zegal in Plouha. The program includes the traditional activities: blessing of the sea, bagad concert, Breton dances, sea shanties, beach activities, raffle, popular ball, and grand fireworks display. Entry will remain free with parking and shuttle service.
The festival takes place at the port of Gwin Zegal, Plouha, 22580.
