The Fête de la Musique in La Ciotat
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms La Ciotat into an open-air stage every June 21. On the occasion of the summer solstice, music freely takes over public spaces, from mid-afternoon until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A festival spread throughout the city
More than fifty concerts are distributed across a multitude of stages, from the Vieux Port to the beach district. Quai Ganteaume, the stairs of Notre-Dame church, Quai François-Mitterrand, Esplanade Langlois, Capucins and Cyrnos beaches, as well as numerous city center squares (Place de l'Escalet, Place Évariste-Gras, Place Toche, Place Gambetta, Square Bouissou) host amateur groups and established formations.
Styles coexist without hierarchy: jazz standards and brass bands on the Vieux Port, pop rock and soul on the esplanades, batucada and percussion, flamenco and French chanson, Provençal and world music, funk, rap, and electro sets. The harmony orchestra and classical ensembles complete this panorama, alongside bars and restaurants that extend the celebration.
