Free concerts throughout the city on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Lille celebrates the Fête de la Musique: brass bands in the markets, conservatory and music school students, choirs, and amateur groups play for free in the city's streets, parks, churches, and squares. Organized by the City of Lille, the day is entirely free and, for the 2026 edition, extends far beyond the city center to take over several neighborhoods.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Lille into an open-air stage every June 21. For this 43rd edition, set for Sunday, June 21, 2026, amateur practice is in the spotlight: music freely takes over public spaces, from morning markets until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences.
Organized by the City of Lille, in partnership with the conservatory and music schools, the 2026 edition brings musical entertainment out of the city center to take over several emblematic locations: neighborhood markets, Sainte-Catherine church, Faubourg de Béthune, Jean-Baptiste Lebas park, and Square des Mères in Fives. In the morning, brass bands animate the markets; in the afternoon, the conservatory, choirs, and local groups take turns on the various neighborhood stages; in the evening, the celebration intensifies in the center and Vieux-Lille.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Lille takes place on Sunday, June 21st, free of charge throughout the city. Organized by the Ville de Lille, the 2026 edition highlights amateur practice and deploys its stages from morning markets to neighborhoods (Faubourg de Béthune, parc Jean-Baptiste Lebas, Fives), in addition to the city center's activities.
Overview of the stages announced by the Ville de Lille for the 2026 edition:
The markets at place du Concert, Nouvelle Aventure, and place Madeleine Caulier will vibrate to the sound of brass bands: Fanfare Tractopelle (techno, disco, 90s), LMLB (70s funk), and Fanfarena 21 (2000s rock).
Guitarists from the conservatory and music schools will perform works from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries.
A neighborhood stage with nine artists on the program, including Cauliflowers, Les Françoiz, River Swimmers, and Fel Fel Brothers.
Eight outdoor performances, including Ludivine, the orchestre OUL, and El Pulpo.
Choral and vocal gathering with the Chœur UCL, Attention Chorale, Lille Gospel, and clarinet duos.
