Science Festival, Montpellier (Hérault)
The Science Festival in Montpellier offers several days of entirely free scientific activities each autumn: workshops, experiments, meetings with researchers, conferences, demonstrations, and shows, spread across the Science Village and numerous scientific and cultural institutions in the metropolitan area. This national event, locally coordinated by the Université de Montpellier, contributes to the cultural and tourist dynamism of Montpellier and the Hérault department, in Occitanie.
The Science Festival is a must-attend event in the cultural life of Montpellier and the Hérault department, in Occitanie. A local version of the national event supported by the Ministry of Research, it attracts a wide audience each year, from families to schoolchildren and curious people of all ages. In Montpellier, the event is coordinated by the Scientific Culture department of the Université de Montpellier for the Hérault and Lozère departments, in conjunction with Instant Science (Occitanie regional coordination).
For several days, free scientific activities are offered: participatory workshops, experiments, demonstrations, meetings with researchers, conferences, exhibitions, and shows. The highlight is the Science Village, deployed at the Faculty of Education of the Université de Montpellier (and at Genopolys), which brings together laboratories, associations, and scientific mediators around interactive stands.
Located in the heart of Montpellier, the Science Festival takes advantage of the exceptional setting of the commune and its university and scientific heritage. The event fully participates in the tourist attractiveness of the Hérault department and promotes the cultural and scientific riches of the Occitanie region.
The Science Festival is above all a moment of sharing. Free and open to all, it allows everyone, whether enlightened amateur or simply curious, to approach science in a concrete, festive, and friendly way. The welcome from researchers, mediators, and volunteers makes each edition a memorable moment.
