The Fête de la Ville du Kremlin-Bicêtre: Between Parks and Festivities
Le Kremlin-Bicêtre is a town of 26,000 inhabitants, nestled in the heart of the Val-de-Marne, on the edge of Paris and Arcueil. Every year in June, the municipality organizes its grand popular festival, which takes place in an exceptional setting: between Parc Pinel and Parc de Bicêtre, two remarkable green spaces that offer a verdant and soothing backdrop for this day of festivities.
The Family Carnival, a Highlight of the Festival
The Fête de la Ville du Kremlin-Bicêtre begins with an anticipated highlight: the family carnival. Prepared and animated by the town's schoolchildren throughout the year, this colorful and joyful parade brings together young and old in a festive procession between Parc de Bicêtre and Parc Pinel. Flamboyant costumes, lively music, and entertainment led by the youngest residents of Le Kremlin make this carnival a magical and moving moment.
An Exceptional Festive Program
The festival continues throughout the afternoon and evening with a rich and varied program:
- Brass Bands: Traveling musical groups parading through the park alleys, creating a festive and infectious atmosphere
- Dance and World Music: Concerts and performances of music from here and elsewhere, celebrating the cultural diversity of Le Kremlin-Bicêtre
- Giant Puppets and Shows: Giant puppet shows for the delight of children and families
- Thrilling Entertainment: Sports and recreational activities for all ages
- Fairground Stalls: Attractions, games, and fairground entertainment for children
- Giant Wooden Games: Giant-sized family games – pétanque, board games, giant skittles
- Snail Races: A fun and amusing activity for children
- Family Yoga: Introduction to outdoor yoga for families
- Mobile Library: The media library joins the party with a selection of books and albums for everyone
- Gift Frame and Coloring Stands: Creative activities for children
- Soap Making Workshop: Making artisanal soaps, raising awareness of craftsmanship
- Dance Evening: Karaoke from 5:30 PM, DJ from 8 PM to 10 PM to close the festival with music
The "Plantes pour Tous" Plant Sale
The festival is also associated with the "Plantes pour Tous" (Plants for All) plant sale, held on the day of the festival from 10 AM to 7 PM at Espace André-Maigné. An opportunity to bring home a living souvenir of this beautiful day, while supporting a solidarity and ecological initiative.
Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, a Town Between Paris and Nature
Le Kremlin-Bicêtre benefits from a privileged geographical position, bordering Paris (13th and 14th arrondissements) and neighboring Arcueil and Gentilly. The town is served by RER line B and is in immediate proximity to the Paris ring road, offering exceptional accessibility.
Parc de Bicêtre, where part of the festival takes place, is a remarkable natural space adjacent to Bicêtre Hospital, one of the largest institutions of the Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris. The hospital occupies the site of the former royal residence of Bicêtre, whose history dates back to the 14th century.
The town also hosts the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris nearby, as well as several major cultural and sports facilities. Its annual festival reflects the identity of a human-sized town, united and attached to its popular traditions.
