The grand annual festival of Montgeron, the birthplace of the Tour de France, with entertainment, concerts, and conviviality
Montgeron is a town in Essonne known worldwide for a historical reason: it was the starting point of the first Tour de France cycling race on July 1, 1903. The Place de l'Auberge du Réveil-Matin, from where the first riders set off, is now a significant site in cycling history. It is in this town with a strong identity that the Fête de la Ville (Town Festival) is held every summer, a moment of gathering and conviviality for the 24,000 residents of Montgeron.
The Fête de la Ville de Montgeron takes over La Pelouse each year, the large meadow in the central park which is the green lung of the town. This emblematic location provides the necessary space for a large-scale popular event, hosting concert stages, market stalls, sports areas, and children's activities.
The festival offers a comprehensive program:
Each year, the Fête de la Ville de Montgeron is centered around a different theme that guides the activities and exhibitions. The choice of theme reflects the municipality's cultural priorities and invites residents to discover a field of knowledge or artistic expression.
Montgeron also boasts remarkable architectural heritage, notably the Château du Marais and several bourgeois residences from the 19th century. The town is crossed by the Seine River and has riverside areas developed for walks and leisure. This rich heritage and natural beauty are regularly highlighted during the festival.
The 2025 Fête de la Ville was held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at La Pelouse, with the theme Architecture. The program included photographic exhibitions on Montgeron's built heritage, architectural activities for children, concerts, and moments of conviviality. The festival enlivened the town from noon to midnight.
The 2026 Fête de la Ville is scheduled for June 2026 at La Pelouse in Montgeron. It will continue the tradition of this grand popular and friendly festival that brings together the town's residents every summer.
The Montgeron Town Festival 2026 will take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from noon to midnight, on the Pelouse (Avenue de la Grange). For this edition, the Town will celebrate cinema in all its forms. Concerts, cultural and sports activities, a guinguette, and an associations village will punctuate the day. Free admission.
The Montgeron Town Festival returns on Saturday, June 13, 2026 to the Pelouse, from noon to midnight, for a new major popular and friendly event. The municipality has announced that this edition will be themed around cinema, celebrated in all its forms throughout the day.
Each year, the Town Festival is organized around a thematic thread that sets the tone for the activities, exhibitions, and shows. After architecture in 2025, this time it's the seventh art that takes over the Pelouse, with a program designed for all audiences.
As usual, the festival will combine concerts on the main stage of the Pelouse, activities for children, sports and cultural demonstrations by Montgeron associations, a guinguette with food and drink, an associations village, and municipal services stands. The day extends into the evening until midnight.
The hour-by-hour program (concerts, cinema activities, headliners) will be announced by the Montgeron Town Hall in the weeks leading up to the event, on the website montgeron.fr and the official Town Facebook page.
Free admission for all activities. The Town reminds that, for the comfort and safety of all, dogs are not allowed at this major event (with the exception of guide and assistance dogs): the festive atmosphere and crowd density can generate stress and risks for animals.
