National Day in Palaiseau
The town of Palaiseau, on the edge of the Saclay plateau and at the heart of the Paris-Saclay scientific hub, celebrates National Day each year with a magical evening that marks the peak of the local summer. The festivities on July 13th are part of the summer event Palaiseau Plage, transforming the Stade Georges Collet into a true summer playground.
Palaiseau Plage: Summer in the City
Organized annually from June 28th to July 13th at the Stade Georges Collet, 43-45 rue George Sand, Palaiseau Plage offers a multitude of water and summer activities every day (except Mondays) from 3 PM to 9:30 PM. Inflatable pools, water games, a refreshment stand, a relaxation area, and various entertainment make this event the unmissable summer gathering for families in Palaiseau. Admission is free for all.
Fireworks: A Magical Conclusion to Palaiseau Plage
The evening of July 13th marks the closing of Palaiseau Plage with fireworks described by the town as a magical moment that illuminates the Palaiseau night. Precisely at 11 PM, the sky above the Stade Georges Collet ignites with a succession of showers, cascades, and palm trees of light that evoke collective wonder. This pyrotechnic show, entirely free, is visible from many parts of the town.
The Firefighters' Ball
A quintessential republican tradition, the firefighters' ball accompanies the fireworks in Palaiseau every year. Organized by the brave firefighters from the local station, this popular ball allows everyone to dance and celebrate in a friendly and convivial atmosphere, paying tribute to the men and women who protect the town daily.
Palaiseau: Between Science and Nature
Palaiseau, a town of 34,000 inhabitants, hosts world-renowned institutions within its territory or on its immediate outskirts: École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, Institut d'Optique, Telecom Paris… This exceptional academic and scientific fabric coexists with preserved natural spaces (Palaiseau forest, Yvette valley) that contribute to the town's quality of life.
