The Fête de Saintry-sur-Seine: A Tradition on the Banks of the Seine
Saintry-sur-Seine (91250) is a charming village in Essonne nestled on the banks of the Seine, between Corbeil-Essonnes and Morsang-sur-Seine. Its exceptional natural setting, marked by the presence of the river and green banks, gives its festive events a unique atmosphere, that of an authentic village festival in Île-de-France.
The Festival Committee: Guardian of Traditions
The Saintry-sur-Seine town festival is organized by the Comité des Fêtes de Saintry-sur-Seine (association W912001920), which has been perpetuating the town's festive traditions for many years. This Festival Committee, made up of passionate volunteers, mobilizes its energies to offer the population a festive program each year worthy of the attachment that the people of Saintry have for their village.
The Salle Jean-Baptiste Corot, located at 173 route de Morsang, is the nerve center of Saintry-sur-Seine's cultural and festive life. This versatile space hosts concerts, shows, and associative meals throughout the year, and serves as a gathering point for residents on special occasions.
National Day in Saintry: A Highlight
The July 14th festival is one of the highlights of the year in Saintry-sur-Seine. The traditional program includes an evening torchlight procession, bringing together young and old in the village streets, before the grand fireworks display launched from the Corot site around 10:45 PM. This pyrotechnic show, whose beauty is amplified by the reflection of colors on the waters of the Seine, is a magical moment that brings the entire Saintry community together.
The Fête de la Musique, on June 21st, is another highlight of the local festive calendar, with open-air concerts celebrating the arrival of summer.
A Village of Character with Multiple Activities
Saintry-sur-Seine is a human-sized town—about 3,500 inhabitants—that carefully cultivates its village identity and its associative fabric. The many local associations, considering the size of the town, liven up local life throughout the year. The town festival is an opportunity to bring them all together under one roof, figuratively speaking, for a moment of sharing and discovering the activities offered to the population.
The Fête des Voisins (Neighbors' Day), sporting events, local exhibitions, and convivial meals complete an annual program that testifies to the social vitality of a town attached to its roots while looking towards the future.
The Seine, Inspiration and Natural Setting
The presence of the Seine gives Saintry-sur-Seine a particular identity among the towns of Essonne. The developed banks are a place for walks and leisure activities appreciated by residents. The painting of Jean-Baptiste Corot, after whom the village is informally named, immortalized these riverside landscapes. The town festival takes place in this enchanting setting, which is part of the landscape heritage of Essonne.
