The big flowery festival of Linas: rides, concerts, flea market, and flower parade
Every end of June, the town center of Linas is adorned with flowers to host its big annual festival. The Fête des Fleurs brings all the inhabitants together for a festive weekend with fairground rides, flowery costume contests, evening concerts, Sunday flea market, children's entertainment, and shows of all kinds. An unmissable summer event in Essonne.
Nestled on the Beauce plateau in the north-east of Essonne, the commune of Linas celebrates a well-established festive tradition every end of June: the Fête des Fleurs. Over a full weekend — from Saturday evening to Sunday evening — the heart of Linas transforms into a large popular festival space where flowers reign supreme and conviviality is the watchword.
The Fête des Fleurs spans two days, each with its own identity. Fairground rides and attractions are set up from Friday at 4 PM in the town center, welcoming families and children eager to enjoy the games and thrills from the early hours. This gentle opening allows residents time to discover the setup before the grand official launch.
Saturday is the main day of the festival. The morning and afternoon are dedicated to entertainment: parade of flowery costumes, contest for the most beautiful floral costume, association stands, artistic demonstrations. In the evening, the town center buzzes to the rhythm of an open-air concert, with a rock or variety headliner that draws several hundred spectators. In 2025, the band Santa Cruz Ghost Riders set the stage on fire for a memorable evening.
Sunday is marked by the large flea market, which takes over the main avenue from 8 AM to 6 PM. Collectors, bargain hunters, and the curious flock between the stalls to find a rare gem, a bargain of the century, or simply to stroll in this friendly flea market atmosphere. In parallel, entertainment continues with open houses, craft demonstrations, itinerant shows, and a children's show scheduled for 3 PM.
The parade and contest of flowery costumes are the most emblematic moment of the Fête des Fleurs. Participants of all ages, from toddlers to seniors, compete with imagination to create outfits entirely decorated with fresh flowers, crepe paper, or floral fabrics. The jury, composed of elected officials and local personalities, awards the most beautiful creations in several categories. The parade through the village streets is a colorful and joyful spectacle reminiscent of the carnival traditions of Provençal or Alsatian villages.
Linas is a commune of some 6,000 inhabitants that maintains a strong link with its history. The Château de Linas, a former seigniorial estate, and the Saint-Martin church, whose origins date back to the 12th century, bear witness to a rich past. Linas is also known for having hosted the Monthléry circuit — actually shared between Linas and Montlhéry — a legendary autodrome founded in 1924 where some of the finest chapters of French automotive history were written. The Fête des Fleurs contributes to the cultural animation of a commune that knows how to combine heritage and modern community life.
Each edition of the Fête des Fleurs is driven by the municipality and local associations, who dedicate many volunteer hours to its preparation. This collective investment guarantees the quality and human warmth that have characterized this event for many years.
The 2026 Fête des Fleurs in Linas will once again offer its festive program: fairground rides, flowery costume parade and contest, evening concert, and large Sunday flea market. The unmissable summer event in Essonne.
The Fête des Fleurs de Linas returns for a new edition at the end of June 2026. The usual festive program will be repeated: fairground rides, parade and contest of flowery costumes, evening concert, and large flea market on Sunday. The artistic lineup will be announced by the Linas town hall closer to the event.
