The great wine and festive event of the Gaillac vineyard
The Fête des Vins de Gaillac is the unmissable event of the Gaillac vineyard, one of the oldest in France. Organized every first weekend of August at Parc Foucaud since 1980, it brings together about forty winemakers and estates from the Gaillac appellation for three days of tastings, a winemakers' village, a gourmet village, concerts, family activities, and a closing fireworks display. Free, festive, and friendly, it attracts thousands of wine and gastronomy lovers every year.
Since 1980, the Fête des Vins de Gaillac has celebrated one of the oldest vineyards in France every summer in the enchanting setting of Parc Foucaud, in Gaillac. This summer event, which has become a major event in Tarn oenotourism over the decades, brings together winemakers, gourmets, and music lovers for three days around a common passion: Gaillac wine and the Occitan art of living.
Parc Foucaud, a magnificent English-style garden overlooking the Tarn and housing the Gaillac Museum of Fine Arts, offers an ideal setting for this wine festival. Each edition hosts about forty cellars and estates from the Gaillac appellation in a winemakers' village where each stand is run by the winemaker themselves. Dry whites, sparkling, sweet, full-bodied reds, fruity rosés, Gaillac method: the entire range of Gaillac wines is represented, allowing visitors to taste and buy directly from the producers.
A gourmet village complements the offer with food stalls showcasing Tarn regional products and local specialties, for a natural food and wine pairing.
The Fête des Vins de Gaillac is not just about tasting. Each edition offers a complete festive program with evening concerts — DJ sets with a saxophonist and violinist on Friday, live orchestras on Saturday and Sunday —, family activities (yoga, treasure hunts, pétanque) and a spectacular fireworks display on Sunday evening to close the event. The park opens its doors at 10 am and the festivities continue until 11 pm, offering a full day of wine and festive pleasures.
The Gaillac vineyard is one of the oldest in France, with traces of viticulture dating back to Roman times. The appellation, recognized as AOC since 1938, covers more than 2,500 hectares and boasts a remarkable diversity of indigenous grape varieties: Mauzac, Loin de l'Œil, Ondenc for whites, Braucol, Duras, and Prunelart for reds. The Fête des Vins showcases this unique ampelographic richness, driven by passionate winemakers who perpetuate a thousand-year-old know-how while innovating. Free and open to all, it embodies the generous and friendly spirit of the Tarn.
