A popular festival in the heart of Fumélois
The Fête du Foulon is a biennial event organized by the town hall of Monsempron-Libos and the commune's Comité des Fêtes. For several years, this event has brought together the inhabitants of Monsempron-Libos and the surrounding areas for a day of conviviality and sharing in the green setting of Parc du Foulon, located near the Libos college and the Pergola hall.
Parc du Foulon, a place steeped in history
The name "Foulon" refers to an old 16th-century fulling mill, once used for processing textiles. This historic site, nestled on the banks of the Lémance, a tributary of the Lot, offers a remarkable natural setting for festivities and gatherings. The park, developed in the urban center of Monsempron-Libos, is a leisure space appreciated by families all year round.
Festival Program
The Fête du Foulon traditionally takes place on a Saturday in August and offers a festive program spread throughout the day and evening:
Pétanque competition
From 2 PM, a friendly doubles pétanque competition kicks off the festivities. Open to all, this friendly tournament allows participants to gather in a relaxed atmosphere, under the shade of the park's trees.
Rustic meal and music
From 6 PM, a grand rustic meal is offered to guests, accompanied by an orchestra that keeps the atmosphere lively until the end of the evening. Many local producers and restaurateurs are present and offer a variety of regional dishes and specialties from Lot-et-Garonne, allowing visitors to discover the flavors of the region.
Fireworks display
The day concludes in style at 11 PM with a grand fireworks display fired over the banks of the Lémance, offering a pyrotechnic show enjoyed by all spectators gathered in the park.
A gourmet open-air market
The Fête du Foulon highlights local products. Local producers and restaurateurs set up their stalls in the park and offer a varied gastronomic selection: charcuterie, cheeses, grilled meats, regional specialties from the Southwest, and sweet treats. A refreshment stand is also available from early afternoon until the end of the festivities.
A free event open to all
Admission to the Fête du Foulon is free, making it an accessible event for everyone, families, young and old. This free admission reflects the municipality's and the Comité des Fêtes' desire to offer a moment of sharing and conviviality without financial barriers, strengthening the social bond within the community of Monsempron-Libos and the Fumel area.
