The Fête du Pâté Lorrain in Baccarat is the unmissable gastronomic event of the back-to-school season in Meurthe-et-Moselle. For over 55 editions, this festival has celebrated Pâté Lorrain, a delicious regional specialty made of pork and veal marinated in white wine, wrapped in golden puff pastry.

A weekend of festivities

The Fête du Pâté Lorrain unfolds over an entire weekend in September, with two days offering distinct atmospheres:

Saturday: festive evening and fireworks

• Musical and dancing entertainment under the bridge, on the banks of the Meurthe.
• Refreshments and food with Pâté Lorrain tasting.
• Spectacular fireworks fired from the banks of the Meurthe, illuminating the town center of Baccarat.

Sunday: parade, tasting, and contest

• Flea market and second-hand market in the streets of the town center.
• Parade of the giant Pâté Lorrain: the highlight of the festival! An exceptionally large Pâté Lorrain is paraded through the streets of Baccarat before being cut and offered for tasting to the public.
• Free tasting: under the bridge, the giant pâté is shared with all visitors.
• Biggest Pâté Lorrain Eater Contest: a friendly and humorous event that delights spectators.

A living gastronomic heritage

Pâté Lorrain is more than just a culinary specialty; it's a symbol of Lorraine's gastronomic identity. Each festival weekend, approximately 20,000 Pâté Lorrains are prepared by bakers and butchers from Baccarat and the surrounding region. This exceptional production testifies to the attachment of the people of Lorraine to this recipe passed down through generations.
