The National Holiday in Igny
A commune in Essonne nestled in the Bièvre valley, Igny celebrates its National Holiday every year on the evening of July 13th with an open-air popular ball, true to republican tradition. The municipality mobilizes its teams to offer a festive, free, and accessible evening for everyone.
A multi-artist popular ball
The evening is based on the proven formula of the popular ball: several music groups take turns on stage throughout the evening, alternating styles and repertoires to satisfy all tastes. Rock, French variety, folk, ballroom music… the musicians get the public dancing on the floor open to all, young and old, whether they are experienced dancers or simply lovers of a good atmosphere.
The tradition of July 13th in Essonne
Like many communes in Essonne, Igny has adopted the tradition of celebrating the popular ball the day before July 14th, on the evening of the 13th, allowing all workers to participate in the festivities without time constraints the next morning. This practice, deeply rooted in Île-de-France, reflects the convivial and inclusive spirit of the national holiday at the local level.
A moment of cohesion for the people of Igny
The National Holiday is one of the highlights of the cultural agenda of Igny, alongside the Festi'Vallée in September. It is an opportunity for residents to meet, get to know their neighbors, and share a moment of collective joy in respect of the republican values of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Associations and volunteers mobilize to ensure the evening runs smoothly.
Igny, a commune with a strong identity
With its 10,000 inhabitants and its preserved residential character in the heart of the Parisian agglomeration, Igny champions a high quality of local life. The town hall, located at 23 avenue de la Division Leclerc, is the beating heart of the commune and the primary point of contact for residents regarding local events.
