2026 edition of the Fête Votive de Marseillan, traditionally set around August 15th and the patron saint's day on August 16th, in the port and town center of Marseillan (Hérault).
The Fête Votive de Marseillan, the town's major local festival, traditionally takes place in mid-August, around August 16th, which corresponds to the patron saint's day. In previous years, it ran for four days, from August 15th to 18th.
The highlight of the festival is the Capelet (or greasy pole race), the oldest Marseillan tradition: a pole coated with tallow extends over the water in the port, and competitors try to grab hats hung at its end, after a parade of participants. The festival also includes evening balls and concerts on Place de la République, the esplanade, and the port, and concludes with a fireworks display.
The detailed program and final dates for the 2026 edition are usually published by the City of Marseillan in the summer, shortly before the event.
