The oldest international folklore festival in France
Created in 1946 on the initiative of Canon Kir, then mayor of Dijon, the Fêtes de la Vigne were imagined to brighten the post-war days. Since then, this festival has become one of the most important folklore events in Europe, bringing together folklore groups from all over the world each edition.
The highlight of the Fêtes de la Vigne is the grand parade that runs through Rue de la Liberté and the city center of Dijon. In traditional costumes, the folklore groups parade with music and dance, offering a colorful spectacle to tens of thousands of spectators gathered along the route. Open-air performances, particularly at the Jardin Darcy, complete the program.
Affiliated with CIOFF (International Council of Folklore Festivals and Traditional Arts), the Fêtes de la Vigne host troupes representing countries as varied as Colombia, Mexico, Georgia, Ukraine, Portugal, or Poland, alongside groups from French regions: Brittany, Alsace, Savoie, Auvergne, and of course Burgundy.
The Fêtes de la Vigne return in July 2026 for a new edition of the International Folkloriades. Folklore troupes from around the world will gather in the streets and gardens of Dijon to celebrate popular traditions.
