The Fêtes de Tarnos: the popular and associative spirit

The Fêtes de Tarnos are a major festive event in the town of Tarnos, a town of over 12,000 inhabitants located at the southern tip of the Landes department, in the Seignanx region, at the gates of the Basque Country and the Bayonne urban area. Every year, at the end of May or beginning of June, the town comes alive for five days of festivities that reflect the strong identity of this working-class, popular, and committed community.

An event driven by associations

The unique feature of the Fêtes de Tarnos lies in its deep associative roots. Organized jointly by the municipality and the festival committee, they benefit from the active participation of numerous local associations. This dense network of associations guarantees the authenticity and diversity of the program, reflecting the richness of Tarnos' social fabric.

The Fêtes de Tarnos are part of a living festive tradition that contributes to the cultural and social dynamism of the town. They are a highlight of Tarnos' collective life, bringing together long-time residents and newcomers around values of solidarity, conviviality, and sharing that characterize Tarnos' identity.
