Wine and local products fair in Le Grand-Pressigny
The Foire aux Vins et Produits du Terroir du Grand-Pressigny is an annual event organized by the local Confrérie (Brotherhood) that brings together exhibitors every April to present, taste, and sell their artisanal products. The fair offers a wide variety of wines — Anjou, Bordeaux, Bourgueil, Chinon, Cognac, Montlouis-sur-Loire, Touraine — as well as regional products: honeys, spices, vanilla, terrines, sausages, cheeses, and market garden produce. The 2024 edition marked the 41st, demonstrating the event's deep roots in the local life of southern Touraine.
The Foire aux Vins et Produits du Terroir du Grand-Pressigny is an annual event held every last Sunday of April in this charming village in southern Touraine, overlooked by the remains of its medieval castle. Organized by the Confrérie du Grand-Pressigny, this fair brings together local producers and artisans centered around wine and gastronomy.
With over 40 editions to its name, the Foire aux Vins du Grand-Pressigny is one of the oldest events in southern Touraine. The 41st edition took place in 2024, attesting to the longevity and popularity of this event. Each year, dozens of exhibitors set up in the village hall and the village streets to offer their products.
The fair showcases a wide variety of wines from multiple appellations: Anjou, Bordeaux, Bourgueil, Chinon, Cognac, Montlouis-sur-Loire, and Touraine. Winemakers present their vintages, offer tastings, and share their passion with visitors. It's an opportunity to discover various estates and compare terroirs in a friendly atmosphere.
Beyond wines, the fair offers a wide range of quality regional products: honeys, spices, vanilla, terrines, sausages, goat cheeses — including the famous Sainte-Maure de Touraine — and market garden produce. The artisans present showcase the richness and diversity of the Touraine terroir and neighboring regions.
The fair is accompanied by a flea market, adding a dimension of treasure hunting and discovery to the event. Visitors can stroll through the village streets, explore the stalls, and enjoy the warm atmosphere of this day that brings together locals and visitors around the pleasures of local produce.
