The Foire de Saumur: a commercial and festive tradition since 1949

The history of the Saumur trade fair dates back to 1949, the year of its creation in the context of post-war reconstruction. Initially located on the Place de la République, between the Loire, the theater, and the town hall, it allowed visitors to discover a vast panorama of Saumur's economic activity: commerce, crafts, industry, agriculture, and gastronomy.

From the city center to the Parc des Expositions

In 1960, the fair left the Place de la République to move to Place Marc-Leclerc, on the island, between the Pont des Cadets and the Pont Cessart. In 1971, a new metal structure marked the beginning of a revival, giving the fair a more contemporary character. Today, renamed Salon Habitat et Jardin, the event is held at the Parc des Expositions de Saumur, located in Le Breil, on a 20,000 m² site with a 460-space landscaped car park, five minutes from the city center along the Loire.

A modern thematic show

The show brings together nearly 150 exhibitors each year, mostly local, covering all areas of housing and gardening: construction, renovation, energy, interior decoration, outdoor landscaping, swimming pools, furniture, appliances, and gardening. Art craftsmen and local producers complete the offer with demonstrations of know-how and tastings of local products.
