About Freak Frequenz
Freak Frequenz — edition 2026
Third Edition: Suicide Commando and a Darkwave Turn
Freak Frequenz returns on April 3rd and 4th, 2026 at Le Ferrailleur for its third edition. This new iteration marks a notable evolution in the artistic direction: the festival focuses exclusively on darkwave, cold wave, darksynth, and aggrotech sounds, without metal this time, with an emphasis on dancing.
On Friday, April 3rd, the evening highlights the French scene with Potochkine, Denuit, and Faits d'Hiver, three representative projects of the vitality of the French darkwave and cold wave scene. On Saturday, April 4th, the legendary Suicide Commando, an essential figure of Belgian aggrotech and EBM for over 30 years, takes the headliner spot, accompanied by Macrowave and Supershotgun.
This spring edition on the banks of the Loire confirms the organizers' commitment to offering an event centered on danceable gothic and industrial music, true to the original spirit of Freak Frequenz.

A Festival Born from a Passion for Dark Music
Freak Frequenz was born in October 2023 from the initiative of Black Speech Production, an association under the French law of 1901 founded by Sylvain (president and programmer) and Malaurie (programmer), and Devilicious Couture. The idea for the festival germinated during a return trip from M'era Luna, a famous German festival for gothic and industrial music. Noticing the absence of a similar event in Western France, the founders wanted to create an electro, goth, and indus scene in Nantes, drawing inspiration from the lineups of major German festivals in the genre.
Le Ferrailleur: A Gem on the Banks of the Loire
The festival takes place at Le Ferrailleur, an emblematic concert venue located at 21 Quai des Antilles on the Île de Nantes, on the banks of the Loire. This intimate capacity of around 400 people allows for a unique closeness between artists and the audience, in an immersive atmosphere conducive to dark and danceable music. The concerts run from 7 PM to 4 AM, with live performances followed by DJ sets.
A Program Balancing Industrial, Electro, and Darkwave
The uniqueness of Freak Frequenz lies in its musical direction, resolutely focused on dark industrial and electronic music. The festival covers a wide spectrum of genres: industrial metal, EBM, aggrotech, darkwave, cold wave, darksynth, cyber rock, and doom bass. The lineup combines renowned international headliners — Combichrist, Psyclon Nine, Suicide Commando, Agonoize, Megaherz — with emerging artists from the French and European scene such as Horskh, V2A, Antania, Potochkine, or Macrowave.
A Constantly Evolving Festival
After a remarkable first edition in October 2023 with Combichrist and Agonoize as headliners, the festival returned in May 2024 for its second edition featuring Horskh and Psyclon Nine. The third edition, in April 2026, confirms the evolution of the artistic direction by focusing exclusively on darkwave, cold wave, darksynth, and aggrotech sounds, with Suicide Commando as the headliner. Devilicious Couture, co-organizer, also showcases its custom harness and lingerie creations during the event, adding an alternative fashion dimension to the festival.
