Country and rockabilly festival in Basse-Goulaine
The Goulaine Country Show is a country and rockabilly festival organized every year at the end of August in Basse-Goulaine, Loire-Atlantique. Supported by the association Goulaine Country, this festive event brings together fans of country dancing, American music, and vintage vehicles over three days. The festival features concerts under marquees, a 600 m² dance floor, line dance workshops, a gathering of Harley-Davidsons and American cars, as well as a country village with exhibitors and on-site catering.
Created in 2021 by the association Goulaine Country, the Goulaine Country Show has quickly established itself as a flagship event for country and western culture in Western France. Organized annually at the end of August in Basse-Goulaine, near Nantes, this three-day festival celebrates American music, dance, and lifestyle in a friendly and family atmosphere. The Goulaine Country association, founded in 2007 and specializing in country and Irish dance, leverages its expertise and passion to offer a quality event that attracts an ever-growing audience.
The heart of the festival beats to the rhythm of concerts under marquees, with two dedicated spaces: one for country, the other for rockabilly. Each edition hosts several bands specializing in these musical genres, including renowned groups from the French country scene such as Crazy Pug, Texas Side Step, Backwest, Dockabilly's, and Cactus Candies. Concerts take place on Saturday and Sunday evenings, offering energetic performances that invite dancing until late at night. A renowned choreographer is also invited to each edition to lead workshops and country dance demonstrations.
The Goulaine Country Show makes it a point of honor to place country dancing at the center of the celebration. An impressive 600 m² dance floor allows both experienced dancers and beginners to practice line dancing in optimal conditions. A second 150 m² dance floor is reserved for workshops, led by professional choreographers who teach steps and routines for all levels. It's the perfect opportunity to get started with country dancing in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The « Motors » aspect of the festival is a major attraction. A gathering of Harley-Davidsons, American cars (Mustangs, pick-ups, hot rods), and vintage vehicles transforms the site into a true American road movie set. Harley-Davidson rides are offered for charity, while local rock and rockabilly bands liven up this space dedicated to fans of mechanics and US culture. A parade of motorcycles and cars is one of the weekend's highlights.
The country village brings together numerous exhibitors and artisans offering western clothing, Stetson hats, boots, jewelry, leather goods, and craft items. On-site catering provides grills, salads, fries, and food trucks for meals throughout the day. The entire site is designed in an authentic western spirit, creating total immersion in the American country universe in the heart of the Nantes vineyard region.
