The children's book and family reading festival in Blois
Graine de Lecteur is a festival dedicated to children's literature and reading for families, held annually in January-February in Blois. Managed by the CAF du Loir-et-Cher with the Ligue de l'enseignement 41 and the City of Blois, this free festival offers a book fair with a guest author, creative workshops, animated readings, and shows at the Espace Rosa-Parks. Each edition explores a different theme.
Graine de Lecteur is a festival dedicated to children's books and family reading held annually in Blois. Born from the joint initiative of the CAF du Loir-et-Cher, the Ligue de l'enseignement 41, the ALCV (Association Loisirs Culture Vacances), and the City of Blois, this festival aims to awaken in toddlers and children the love of reading and literary discovery.
For about two weeks, from late January to early February, the Espace Rosa-Parks in the Quinière district of Blois transforms into a space dedicated to books and imagination. The festival features a book fair with a guest author-illustrator as patron or godmother of the edition, creative workshops for children, animated reading sessions (“Tell me a story”) led by volunteers from the association Lire et faire lire, and shows for young audiences.
Each edition of Graine de Lecteur explores a different theme that serves as a common thread for the entire program. This theme inspires the choice of the guest author-illustrator, the workshops, the decorations, and the activities. This thematic approach renews the experience year after year and stimulates children's curiosity and imagination.
Graine de Lecteur is a resolutely intergenerational festival. It brings together children, parents, grandparents, childminders, and early childhood professionals around the simple pleasure of shared reading. All activities are free, ensuring everyone has access to this cultural and educational event. The festival helps strengthen family and social bonds around books.
The success of Graine de Lecteur relies on a broad network of institutional and associative partners. The CAF du Loir-et-Cher manages the initiative, while the Ligue de l'enseignement 41 coordinates activities and interventions in schools. The ALCV provides the Espace Rosa-Parks and contributes to logistical organization. The association Lire et faire lire mobilizes its volunteer readers to lead reading sessions throughout the festival. Libraries, bookstores, and schools in the Blois area also participate in the event.
The festival primarily takes place at the Espace Rosa-Parks, Quinière district, 41000 Blois.
The festival is held annually from late January to early February, lasting about two weeks. Workshops and activities are held on weekdays for school groups and on Wednesdays and Saturdays for families.
All festival activities are completely free.
The festival is primarily aimed at children aged 0 to 10 and their families, but also welcomes early childhood professionals and teachers.
