Cinema festival in Gramat in the Lot
The Gramat Sphère Film Festival was born in May 2022 at the initiative of the municipality of Gramat, a small town in the Lot department located at the gates of the Causses du Quercy Regional Natural Park, between Rocamadour and Figeac. Supported by the town's cultural and youth services, this festival is part of a dynamic of cultural development of the territory initiated in 2021 with a thematic event around animals that had brought together many local partners.
Each edition offers about a dozen films for all audiences, embracing a wide variety of genres: documentaries, thrillers, animated films, fantasy films, comedies, and dramas. The program revolves around a unifying theme that changes with each edition. The first edition focused on gastronomy, with films such as Soylent Green by Richard Fleischer, Ao, the Last Neanderthal, La Cuisine en héritage, and Marona's Fantastic Tale. The third edition in 2024 explored the theme of literary adaptations in cinema, with Thomas Chabrol as guest of honor. The fourth edition in June 2026 revisits this theme of literary adaptations, this time welcoming producer Sophie Révil as guest of honor.
Beyond the screenings, the Gramat Sphère festival stands out for the richness of its complementary activities. Throughout the weekend, the public can enjoy photographic exhibitions, readings, workshops for children and adults (screenwriting, photographic portrait, filming, animation), tastings, games, and shows. Meetings and debates with directors, producers, and audiovisual technicians punctuate the program. The festival also hosts a Médias'Broc, a flea market dedicated to vintage audiovisual and digital equipment. Open-air cinema screenings and cinema-breakfasts complete the offer.
Organized by the Municipality of Gramat with the support of about twenty volunteers involved in communication, reception, technical aspects, and catering, the festival mobilizes elected officials, municipal agents, and numerous local partners: cultural associations, shopkeepers, and territorial institutions. The L'Atelier cinema, a municipal Art et Essai cinema with 158 seats, equipped with a 10-meter screen and Dolby Digital sound, is the nerve center of the event. The festival has also obtained the Printemps Citoyen en Occitanie label from the Occitanie Region.
Since its creation, the festival has continued to grow. After the first edition focused on gastronomy in 2022, the second edition was held in May 2023 with an expanded program over nearly two weeks. The third edition in May 2024 consolidated the format around a dense and thematic weekend. The 2025 edition had to be cancelled, so the fourth edition is scheduled from June 5 to 7, 2026, confirming the lasting presence of this cinematic event in the cultural landscape of the Lot.
The festival takes place at Cinéma L'Atelier, 110 rue de l'Atelier, 46500 Gramat.
