A festival born from cinema education
The Sarlat Film Festival was born in 1991, following the creation in 1986 of a cinema option in French high schools. It is the only cultural event offering high school students specializing in cinema-audiovisual an educational program centered around the films studied for the baccalaureate.
A unique meeting place
Each autumn, nearly 600 high school students and their teachers converge on Sarlat for an immersion into the world of cinema. They mingle with directors, actors, screenwriters, and technicians during screenings, masterclasses, and round tables. The festival also welcomes several thousand spectators to celebrate cinema and its history.
A demanding program
The festival offers preview screenings, special screenings, cine-concerts, and meetings with film crews. The program highlights French and international cinema, with a particular focus on works intended to enrich the cinematic culture of younger generations.
