Jazz festival in tribute to pianist Raymond Fol, at the foot of Mont Mézenc
There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. At the time of our editorial review (June 2026), we found no public source announcing a new edition of the Jazz au Mézenc - Festival Raymond Fol. The official website has not been updated for several years and the event no longer appears in the calendars of the commune of Chaudeyrolles or in recent press. This entry is kept as an archive in homage to this mountain jazz event.
The Jazz au Mézenc - Festival Raymond Fol was held at the Ferme de Matagot, in the commune of Chaudeyrolles (Haute-Loire), at the foot of Mont Mézenc. Created in the late 1980s in the former residence of jazz pianist Raymond Fol (1928-1979), it paid tribute to this musician and enlivened this corner of the Mézenc massif every summer.
The festival was based on a two-part formula: a jazz workshop at the beginning of the week, led by professional musicians and open to all instruments (saxophone, trumpet, bass, piano, percussion, drums, vocals), followed by concerts at the end of the week bringing together the instructors and participants in the warm and friendly atmosphere that made its reputation.
ℹ️ To date, no future edition has been confirmed. The official website is no longer updated and the commune of Chaudeyrolles no longer mentions the event in its calendar. If you are the organizer and the festival resumes, you can notify us via the entry modification form.
ℹ️ 2026 edition not held. The displayed dates (August 17-22, 2026) were an estimate ("third week of August"). At the time of our editorial verification (June 2026), no public source confirms a 2026 edition of the Jazz au Mézenc - Festival Raymond Fol: the official website has not been updated for years and the event no longer appears on the agenda of the commune of Chaudeyrolles. The festival seems to have stopped. This entry is kept for archival purposes.
Chaudeyrolles is located in the department of Haute-Loire (43), in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, on the northern slope of Mont Mézenc, bordering Ardèche.
The festival takes place at the Ferme de Matagot, hamlet of Matagot, in the commune of Chaudeyrolles. The site is located at over 1,300 meters above sea level, in a mountain environment.
The festival takes place every year during the third week of August. The jazz workshop takes place at the beginning of the week, and the concerts are held at the end of the week.
Concerts are accessible at moderate prices, in the friendly spirit of the festival. The jazz workshop requires prior registration with a participation fee. Contact the organizers directly for current prices.
Chaudeyrolles and its surroundings offer gîtes, bed and breakfasts, and campsites. The village of Les Estables, a nearby winter and summer sports resort, also offers accommodation options. It is recommended to book in advance during the festival period.
As the festival takes place at high altitude (over 1,300 m), evenings can be cool even in August. Bring warm clothing and a waterproof jacket. Concerts are partly held outdoors.
